The Fresh Content of Marketing: How to mix it up with your blog posts
Are you stuck in a rut with your blog posts? Do you feel like you’ve reached a limit on how many ways you can write new content and are now desperate to find a way out of your creative block? We’ve been there -- and we can help. Read on for some of our favorite tricks and tips for keeping your blog content fresh.
List it out
We love lists. And here’s why:
Lists are easy to read.
Listed information is usually easy to understand.
Lists allow you to learn the info you need with a quick glance.
Lists are often given a higher rank in search result algorithms.
Lists allow you to disseminate information quickly and easily.
We think we’ve made our point.
Create a graphic
Sometimes we feel like we’re in a rut because we use the same blog format for every post. Get creative and make a graphic that shares relevant information with your audience. This might be a graph of some kind, an infographic, illustration or even just a more colorful way of writing what you want your audience to know.
If you are not experienced in graphic design, you can always look for a class to help you increase and improve your skills. Consider learning to use a platform like Canva, which allows you to create graphics and other visual aids to make your presentation pop. Once you have enough knowledge and experience, you may even be able to use your new talents as an additional service to your clients.
Stay current
The great thing about marketing is that we have the opportunity to relate different current events or trends. And you can put that opportunity to work for you in your next blog post. If you’re not already doing so, start keeping up with popular news items and social media trends. While not all of these will be relevant to your audience, you are still likely to find some topics your clients would love to hear your thoughts on.
You can even have some fun with it -- if you discover that a music app is encouraging its users to try out karaoke, you can write a blog about effective ways to use music in marketing today, whether it’s through Instagram Stories or a favorite TikTok video. Think outside the box and take advantage of these trends.
Tell us how
Writing a how-to post is easy. First, you decide what topic or activity you want to teach others about. Next, outline your post with the main points you want to make. After you’re satisfied with your outline, write your post to the desired length. Ask a friend or colleague to read it over before you post it online. Finally, it’s time to publish your post and share the link with relevant clients, colleagues, and friends.
(See what we did there?)
How-to posts are easily digested for a quick read, meaning you may even gain more followers by offering some of your expertise. This is another chance for you to be creative -- you can create a how-to around multiple topics in the marketing industry, so start thinking about some things you wish you’d known when starting out.
Invite a guest writer
Sometimes you may feel that, no matter how many other tips you’ve tried, you’re just a little burned out from writing blog posts. That’s okay; in fact, it may just be the perfect time for you to mix it up and bring in a guest blogger to write one or two posts for you. These posts can be part of a series you’ve already created, or they might be something specific to the expertise of your guest. Either way, it’s a welcome change and fresh perspective that allows you to take a blogging break without sacrificing content.
Bonus idea: using a guest blogger means you can tag them in your social media, and they can do the same for you. You will increase your views and maybe even gain some followers and clients, all from a simple blog post. That’s the definition of a win-win (or win-win-win, as Michael Scott would say).
So now you have some ideas -- it’s time to get moving! Decide which format you want to try next and craft your new post today. If you’re still not sure how to tell your story, we have you covered. Just give us a call so we can help you show the world exactly who you are.
